It's January
Welcome to a BRAND NEW Year and our first blog for 2023!
The festive holidays are over and it’s back to school for most of our Buddies as well as a few new faces starting. I first want to welcome all our Buddies back who are starting in a new class with new teachers and secondly to all our brand new Buddies who have joined “our home away from home.”
Our Classes!
Before I start writing any of my blogs, I want to introduce our team of amazing staff. Meet our teachers and their classes for 2023!
The Cub Class
If your Buddie is starting in the Cub Class, they will be loved and cared for by teacher Veronica and our two assistants Nomendu and Anasha. They enjoy singing nursery rhymes and introducing our cubs to so many new tactile experiences!
The Penguin Class
Teacher Nicole and assistants Alzan and Sylvia will keep your little penguin occupied with fun activities and loads of playtime.
The Bunny Class
Let’s give a big hop hop hoorayyy to teacher Qudisiyah and assistant Jolene for teaching our Bunny Class 1 everything they need to know like building puzzles, counting past 10 and being creative with their art activities.
The Bunny Class
The Buddies in the 2nd Bunny Class are going to jump with joy when teacher Cathy and assistant Noma starts teaching them all the new skills like painting, colouring, arts and lots of crafts!
The Lion Class
The Buddies in the Lion Class are going to ROAR with excitement when teacher Florence and assistant Nobantu starts teaching them the Alphabet, what their names start with, different shapes and being proud of what they brought for show and tell!
The Owl Class
Hoot hoot said said teacher Melissa and assistant Sharlene when they welcomed our pre grade R class. By the end of this year all our Owl babies will spread their wings and fly to “big school!”
Introducing our new faces at Best Buddies
“Hi, I am Karen Temlett I will be acting as interim Principal at Best Buddies. I love Jesus, I am married and have two beautiful children. I have many years of teaching and pre-school setup experience and currently run Funda Kunye, a NPO focusing on training caregivers in marginalized areas of Hout Bay to effectively stimulate the babies and toddlers in their care.
I am delighted to be at Best Buddies and look forward to getting to know you and your wonderful children!”
I am Melissa Mitchell, the new teacher of the Owl Class. I am a mom of four kids, three are my own and one I am fostering. I have been with Best Buddies for 13 years and realized that my true calling is working with the Pre-Grade R kids. I am kind, friendly, enjoy socializing, loves singing and of course spending time with my family. I am the substitute mommy to all the Buddies as soon as their mommies and daddies have to go😊
Hi. My name is Veronica, and I am the Cub Teacher. I am married with 3 kids and believe that education is the key to success. Working with babies is my passion. I love to sing, play and make memorable moments with the little ones. I am very excited to join Best Buddies and believe this would my new loving, caring family as my values, principal’s and morals are similar to the school’s. I want to make the Cub Class their new “Home away from Home.”
My name is Anasha, I’m a 21-year-old Christian who began as a babysitter for my nieces and nephews. I quickly realized that I love children and I can actually make a career out of my passion for working with children. I’m loving, kind, caring and enjoy reading as a hobby. I also love to sing (only in the shower for now though.) As I see every cub reach another milestone growing into independent little human beings, I know I made the right choice to join the Cub Class as an Assistant Teacher!
My name is Jolene Carolus, and I am Bunny Class 1 – assistant teacher. I am married with 2 kids, and I am a granny of 1 little girl! I previously worked at Best Buddies for 25 years and my love for the school as well as my passion for the Buddies drew me back to begin a brand-new journey at Best Buddies. My class focusses on the 18 months to 2-year group, and they keep me on my toes!
I’m Alzahn Adams. I’m a mom of one little boy who is also at Best Buddies as I wanted the best school and the greatest education for him! I first started as a babysitter and moved up to tutoring children with special needs. I am passionate about my job and can see how the kids creep out of their shell as the year continues and they become less shy. I enjoy being creative, spending time with my family and helping out as the assistant teacher in the Lion Class😊
My name is Nosiphiwo Basela I am a proud wife, mother, and grandmother. I am working as the school cleaner and ensures that every space at Best Buddies is spotless, hygienically clean and healthy for all our little Buddies. My job is one of the most important because without my skills best Buddies would have to ensure no germs are hiding anywhere…
